Roles & Responsibilities

 

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company and leading our dedicated finance team across Singapore, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

 

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with exceptional communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. You will have a keen ability to think logically and coherently, coupled with excellent quantitative and analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights. Your ability to generate actionable recommendations and offer constructive feedback will be crucial in shaping the company’s financial strategy.

 

Job Duties

  1. Cashflow Management & Financial Planning
  • Manage the Group’s cashflow, including optimization, forecasting, and expense management.
  • Prepare and consolidate group-wide budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
  • Oversee debt management and collections to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
  • Monitor and control group-wide expenditures and expenses.

 

  1. Financial Performance & Analysis
  • Perform monthly group financial consolidations and conduct financial analysis to assess performance.
  • Monitor financial performance metrics such as gross profit, costs, and revenues, ensuring alignment with Profit & Loss targets.
  • Conduct Return on Investment (ROI) analysis for international investments and offer strategic advice on expansion and investment methodologies.
  • Analyse financial performance, providing feedback, insights, and recommendations for profitability, liquidity, and financial health improvements.

 

 

  1. Risk Management & Financial Strategy
  • Develop risk management strategies considering all aspects of the Group’s business, including financial, operational, and market risks.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, including risk minimization, cost reduction, and opportunity forecasting.

 

  1. Tax & Compliance Management
  • Manage GST and income tax matters, ensuring effective tax planning and compliance.
  • Oversee and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., AML/KYC) and safeguard company assets.

 

  1. Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring high performance, meeting deadlines, and fostering team cohesion.
  • Assess team members with high potential to groom them for future leadership roles.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, promoting continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Effectively assign work across regions to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goals.

 

  1. ERP & Financial Systems Management
  • Spearhead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the ERP system and related Management Information Systems (MIS) projects.

 

  1. Banking & Financial Relationships
  • Banking & Liquidity Management.
  • Maximizing Returns on Funds.

 

  1. Cross-Departmental Financial Projects
  • Oversee financial projects, developing communication channels between procurement, production, hedging, and finance teams to optimize production output and cash flow.

 

Job Prerequisites

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA qualification is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Financial Controller (experience within precious metals / commodity trading is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics and challenges inherent in the precious metals market, including price fluctuations, supply chain complexity, and regulatory environments is an advantage.
  • Proficient in financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Chinese accounting practices is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of internal controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in managing financial audits and working with external auditors.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial reporting tools and ERP systems, with the ability to leverage on technology to drive process improvements.
